Viewing and Hunting the Osceola Wild Turkey Gobbler -
The Ranch manages its land to produce bumper crops of naturally occurring Osceola wild turkeys. We do not disturb the nesting areas of the turkeys. We provide seasonal food plots in which seeding and leafy plants are grown for the turkeys, quail and deer.
The Osceola is one of the five native American species and is found only in central and southern Florida. It is easily the most colorful of the wild turkeys. Irridescent flashes of copper, red, mauve, blue, green and yellow are seen as the large birds move about, "strutting" with tails spread wide, and feathers fluffed out to appear massive! the brighter colors result from refraction of light, not from pigment. Their heads become brillant with shades of red, white and blue. Benjamin Franklin wanted to make them the national symbol.
Deep Creek Ranch is located in northwest Volusia County in central Florida. A prime area for quality Osceola hunting, Deep Creek Ranch is a working cattle ranch with beautiful pastures and wildland areas. Located on the ranch is Lake Sunset, 100 acres of water that is naturally fed by small springs.
We practice prescribed burning on our land to manage the wildlife and promote timber growth, which produces trophy gobblers. We operate our business with an emphasis on quality. Therefore, we allow no more than two hunters on the property at a time. This gives each hunter about 400 acres and a peaceful hunt.
All hunts are fully guided by professional guides whose first and foremost responsibility is to provide you with an opportunity to harvest a turkey. Just remember it is hunting. Although we have had a very high success rate, nothing is ever guaranteed. With decades of experience between them in hunting the elusive Osceola turkey, Will Raulerson and Heath Green will give you nothing less than 110% when guiding you on Deep Creek Ranch.

As many as four beards have been observed. Far from common, though! This is the first two beard we have seen in years. Some hens grow beards too. David Strawn has seen but two of these in a long life.
